As promised, here is the new pot. The glazing was an experiment and both Kris and I were amazed at how well it worked. I am working on a bowl to put underneath to make it into a fountain. Stay tuned...
Before I went to the studio yesterday, I got up very early to drive to Albuquerque to see the Special Shapes Rodeo at the Balloon Fiesta. It's amazing to me that these things can fly. Someday I'm going to take a ride in one myself and take the pictures from above.
I have more balloon pictures, but I will save them for another post.

The glaze is terrific; how large is the pot?? When do you expect the bottom to be finished?
It _is_ hard to believe some of the balloons fly! How long does the Fiesta last? Always in October? Did you go to the gatherings in IA or other places you've lived?
Fun photos!
The pot is about 18 inches tall. The bottom is drying , slowly, now. Kris will bisque fire it when it completely dry, probably sometime next week. Then I will glaze it similarly to this part and it will be fired again. The whole process may take as long as a month,
The Balloon Fiesta is always the first two full weekends in October and there are events daily during the week between. I haven't been to other gatherings, but my interest started when one almost landed on the house in Coralville. I was the only one home at the time, and it was a woman piloting it. She did a good job getting it back up high enough to avoid the house.
BTW, you can see it tomorrow morning by streaming video at http//kob.com and possibly tonight when they do the tethered Balloon Glow. (If the wind doesn't interfere.)
Great ceramics, and balloons too!
Nice pot! Seeing it in a photograph is totally diferent. It looks like you have captured the northern lights (aurora borealis-not santa fe)YKW
