Here are the hollyhocks currently blooming in all their glory in the high desert. Rumor has it that these are invasive in the Midwest, but here we are thrilled to have this kind of flower color and size and are willing to use some of our precious water resources to get them. The flowers are 3 to 6 inches in diameter.
We also have day lilies and blue flax in bloom, which you can see a bit of in the picture to the right.

WOW!
...some of the hollyhock blossoms look as large as, and similar in structure to, our hibiscus. Will get some photos in a few weeks when they begin blooming.
How much longer will they bloom?
We were in the front flower beds when you called. Then saw that you'd gotten to the blog and hopefully got the answers to your most immediate questions.
Kevin put together a terrific slide show of our time there, and around the yards, this morning. Will take it to Mom after lunch. Dunno where we can best put it to give you access, but we're checking...
Time to eat.
Make a great rest of the weekend!

You're right, the hollyhocks do look alot like hibiscus flowers. The leaves, however, are very different. I think they will bloom for several weeks. The stems have flower buds all the way to the top, and DonnaMarie's started blooming at least a week before mine and they are still going strong.
The slide show is wonderful!
I'll try to get some photos of our hibiscus...we should have half a dozen or more and they've done well the past few years. *crosses fingers*
Reaction to the slide show has been a great boost for both of us. The song and pics makes a terrific mental refresher for me throughout the day.
Make a great rest of the day!

I saved the slide show to my computer and a jump drive, but it only works if you are connected to the Internet. The jump drive version did play on the hospital computers so I was able to share it with a couple of friends there as well.
